Dream to Reality...
The Escape started as a dream when Charlene Garcia, a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, dedicated the last five years of her salary as church secretary to a nonexistant teen center. This act of selfless giving was in memory of her late son, Christopher.
With a new expansion to their church, St. Paul's dedicated much of their lower addition to create a teen center. After generous donations for furniture and multi-media equipment, countless volunteer hours from craftsmen and youth committee members, and the hiring of two staff members, the Escape opened its doors to all middle and high school students in the community on November 7th, 2007.
Since its opening, the average attendance has grown rapidly. We often have between 50 to 60 youth and teens an evening, and more are coming to meet new friends, have fun, and grow!
